An invitation to row with CPRA.mov CPRA is short for the CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA ROWING ASSOCIATION....We're located in Shamokin Dam, just below the confluence of the North and West Branches of the Susquehanna River in Central Pennsylvania. Check out this movie to see what we do on the river....We row in singles, doubles, quads, fours, and eights...we're a social group that enjoys staying fit and competing....With all of that, here is my first attempt at producing a rowing video for CPRA. I really appreciate everyone's patience and willingness to be taped. Keep in mind that this video is subject to change- but for now, keep me appraised of your thoughts on how I can improve it...Thanks!!!!!! Youth Rowing Summer Program.mov...If you're not yet in college and are looking for something to do over the summer, you may want to check out this program! Here you may learn to row, meet other kids from local high schools, and keep in excellent shape. This year we had 2 coaches and several older, masters, rowers helping out. The rowing program meets 2 nights a week (Tuesday and Thursday from 4 to 6) and there are scholarships available!!! This program is supported by the Degenstein Foundation. For more information, check out www.rowpa.org The 7th Annual Crying Towel Regatta (2006).mov...Well, here it is!!! The video from the Crying Towel Regatta. I don't know if it will fully satiate your racing fantasies, but it serves its purpose...This video was captured by Carol and edited by me. I tried to pick music that would amuse the senses; Here there is a medley of different songs...Hope you Enjoy it! By the way, if you're not familiar with the Crying Towel Regatta, this is an in-house race. We raced 8's, 4's, and doubles and singles. There are handicaps for different boats, and if your boat doesn't do as well as you expect, you're allowed to cry! But remember- there are no tears in rowing!!!! It's 2 mins. 27 secs. in duration. RED MOON ROW.mov...This movie may appear dark at times; on my computer and on a television, it appears lighter. This is the annual August moonlit row, and this year we had a red moon (or as I like to call it a "Pink" moon). You'll notice I altered the shutter speed to get the necessary light. Pink Moon I saw it written and I saw it say Pink moon is on it's way And none of you stand so tall Pink moon gonna get you all It's a pink moon It's a pink pink pink pink pink moon... 2006 Season End of the Year Under 4 Minutes in Duration Rowing Banquet Video.mov...Well folks, the regular season is now officially in the record books. We had a very nice banquet last night, and here's the video I made for that event. I tried to use clips and photos I haven't used before (not much luck with that) and I tried to include everyone...so look for yourselves....You'll notice that the video looks better in this format than when I showed it at the banquet....I also tried to be funny- you be the judge! 1990 Dad Vail Regatta- Jv Women's 8...Here is a video from the 1990 Dad Vail Regatta featuring the Temple University JV Women's crew. At the time, we were told that we were the first Temple women's boat to medal in the Dad Vail!!! It's hard to believe that this race took place 16 years ago!!! It was a real shocker for our team because just a few weeks earlier we easily beat Navy (the yellow team) in the Cherry Blossom Regatta in Washington DC. Navy is the team that handedly wins this event. Our boat just barely comes in second place...At the end of the race the blades to our boat hit the bridge...I'm in seat #4. Our coxswain was Louisa and the rowers are 8) Shelley, 7) Suzanna, 6) Hillary Kozlowski, 5) Johanna, 4) Jennifer Elick, 3) Lauren Goslen, 2) Mary Grace, and 1) Adrienne Delgrosse. I don't remember many of their last names, but if you do, email me: elick@susqu.edu (2 mins) The Launching of the Oil Slick.mov. Last Fall, I made a single from a kit sold by Chesapeake Light Craft (clcboats.com) and here is the launching of the Oil Slick on it's maiden voyage. The footstretchers are not adjusted so my rowing looks a little awkward,  but you should see me now!!!! There is nothing like getting on the river early in the morning, before anyone else, and enjoying a nice workout in a boat you've made...Making a boat has been the best experience I've had in a long long time. I looooove to talk about my boat! Believe it...Oar Not!!! Last Fall a bunch of us (Jim Baker, Lana Gulden, Colleen Colonna, and one of my SU students, Charles Kennedy) had some fun making a video for a contest sponsored by Concept 2. Here is that video...It didn't win, but I heard from a lot of people that it was one of their favorites...The general gist of the film is that a Jeep is on fire and a rower on a Concept 2 erg comes to the rescue, tows the Jeep to a garage and eventually, the Jeep, which needs a new engine, needs to ride into the sunset; we do this using oars....We had fun and look forward to the next video contest!!!!
